Founders, Sales Isn’t Optional — It’s Survival

When we founded Food4Giraffes 🦒, our world revolved around helping B2B food companies make smarter product decisions , combining strategy, innovation, and insight to help them grow.

We genuinely believed 💭that if the work was great, the rest would follow.

Like many entrepreneurs, I thought excellence would sell itself 🗣️.

Scaling our business made something crystal clear: even the most innovative service or idea means little if you can’t communicate its value, sell it, and negotiate it.

My personal turning point came during a high-stakes meeting with a very seasoned CEO, prepared and confident , I froze when pricing came up . He was a master negotiator 🏆, and I… wasn’t.

From that moment, I decided to approach sales with the same curiosity and discipline 🏋️‍♀️ I bring to product strategy.

Two things really helped me:

1️⃣ Reading “B2B Sales for the Entrepreneur” by Garry Mansell 📖. It’s hands-on, relatable, and written for founders like us who never saw themselves as “salespeople.”

2️⃣ Invest in specialized sales training.
Sales is not “just talking”; it’s a craft that requires structured preparation. I trained with BrightBizz- Philippe Szombat, and their practical, founder-focused approach helped me build real sales skills 💪.

At Food4Giraffes 🦒 , we help food companies see beyond the everyday — to spot opportunities, make smarter product decisions, and build growth that lasts. And as founders, we have to do the same for ourselves.

Sales isn’t just about closing deals. It’s about believing in your value, learning to defend it, and having the courage to stand behind it — especially when the stakes are high.
